We invite you to join us for Civil Aviation South East Asia Summit 2017 (CASEA 2017), scheduled during 27th - 28th Sept., 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand, a true heart of the South East Asia’s aviation. The theme of this year’s event is: Preparing the Growth for Tomorrow.
Thanks to rapid economic growth, urbanization, and swelling middle class, the aviation industry in South East Asia has recorded significant growth over the past few years and established itself as one of the world’s fastest growing aviation markets, and still has huge potential for more rapid growth. The passenger traffic has grown by more than 9 percent since 2010. The total seat capacity of ASEAN airlines experienced double-digit growth in the four-year period of 2009-2013 and intra-South East Asian traffic is projected to increase by 7.7 percent over the next 20 years.
With greater air travel, comes greater demand for aircraft and regional investment to aviation infrastructure. Boeing projects a demand for 3750 new aircraft in South East Asia over the next 20 years, valued at US$ 550 billion. One question raised is: are there enough MRO facilities, human resources (pilots, technical experts, etc) in the aviation sector to match this expansion? To capitalize on this, the top economies in South East Asia, such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines, are aggressively pushing for the development of the sector. Initially, they concentrate on MRO services. Now they have expanded into areas like pilot training and the production of aircraft components with the aim of becoming Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers themselves.
Why Thailand? In terms of the aerospace industry, geography is very important. Thailand, as home to the third busiest airport in South East Asia based on passenger numbers and Bangkok Don Mueang the largest world’s largest LCC airport, is the geographical center of South East Asia as well as one of the two major aviation hubs in the region. As the principal government agency for encouraging investment, Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) has put the promotion of the aviation and aerospace industry on top of its priority list for a long time. Since early 2015, BOI is considering building an Aerospace Industrial Estate starting with Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers servicing global OEM supply chains. The direct revenue impact could garner close to $86.6 billion in a 25 year time frame between 2019- 2045. Out of this $32.5 billion has already been planned to be coming out of the pre-built infrastructure such as MRO hangars and component manufacturing factories.
CASEA 2017 aims to be the platform where all the stakeholders could discuss the current outlook for the South East Asia aviation industry, the opportunities and challenges posed, and envision the bright future and preparation needed to better the growth in the years ahead. We expect that 30+ industry leaders and 200+ senior executives will join this high profile event. We are confident that CASEA 2017 will offer service companies advantage to enter the South East Asia MRO and training business.
Look forward to meeting you there!
